House Leaders prod Senate to swiftly act on PRRD's priority measures

July 28, 2021

Leaders of the House of Representatives today urged the Senate to swiftly act on the priority bills outlined by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his final State of the Nation Address last Monday.

Speaking at the virtual Ugnayan sa Batasan media forum, Deputy Speakers Michael “Mikee” Romero (1-PACMAN Partylist) and Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. (Manila, 6th District) said these measures are vital to address the plight of Filipinos.

Romero said most of these measures, particularly the proposed amendments to the Foreign Investments Act, Public Service Act, and Retail Trade Liberalization Act, were already approved by the House and are now awaiting action by the Senate.

Other measures certified by the President as priority—the creation of the Department of Disaster Resilience and the Department of Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos—were also already approved by the House, Romero said.
